Dr. Amber W. Childs is an award-winning, nationally regarded expert in youth and young adult mental health, digital innovation, data-driven care transformation and executive leadership. As a licensed clinical psychologist, with nearly 15 years of deep experience, she is on a mission to improve equity, access and mental health outcome quality for youth.

Dr. Amber is an Associate professor of psychiatry in the Yale School of Medicine and is a member of the medical staff at Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital (YNHPH). Additionally, Childs is the co-founder and director of the Getting Racism Out of our Work (GROW) initiative at Yale, co-founder of the Yale Measurement-Based Care Collaborative and founder of M-Select, a comprehensive digital mental health solution for youth. Her transformational leadership roles have included Director of Training for the Yale Doctoral Internship in Clinical and Community Psychology in the School of Medicine, Co-Director of the Division of Quality and Innovation within YNPHP and Chief Clinical Officer at BeMe Health.  

Dr. Amber is a respected and frequent contributor to the peer-reviewed literature with scores of published manuscripts and presentations to her name. She is a sought after media presenter and contributor and her thought leadership has been featured in outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNBC Make it, The Hartford Courant, CT Insider, The APA Monitor on Psychology, Yale Medicine Magazine, Yale Ventures, ABC and CBS local news affiliates, podcasts, and more.

She is frequently appointed to national and other notable advisory board and ambassadorship roles, including the Measurement-Based Care Advisory board for the American Psychological Association, the Yale Ventures Faculty Advisory Committee, and the American Academy of Pediatrics Center for Social Media and Youth Mental Health for which she is a current ambassador.

Dr. Amber earned her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and completed a doctoral internship and post-doctoral residency at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital, where she specialized in child and adolescent services.
